Student Talk: My Experience at F1 75 Live

F1 75 LIVE: Attending the 2025 Formula 1 season launch event

It’s not long until the 2025 Formula 1 season gets underway. This year, the sport is celebrating a historic milestone – its 75th anniversary. To mark the occasion, a special season launch event was organised, where, for the first time ever, all 10 teams would unveil their liveries for the upcoming season together.

I was fortunate to be invited by Formula 1 to attend the event and was lucky enough to watch from the very front of the stage. And what an event it was! In attendance were all the drivers, team principals, and a plethora of special guests!

Each team was allocated seven minutes to unveil their 2025 livery, with each going for a unique approach. What were my favourite parts of the team performances? I really enjoyed Aston Martin’s James Bond themed intro video, and it was great to see a selection of McLaren’s most iconic cars on the stage when they unveiled their MCL39 livery.

In terms of the new 2025 liveries, to quote Jack Whitehall: “I say new. It turns out most of them haven’t actually changed. But we booked Machine Gun Kelly, and we didn’t want to lose the deposit on the venue, so the show goes on!” That was true in some cases, however, there were a few startling new liveries. Most notably, Racing Bulls, who showcased a white colour scheme, reminiscent of the special livery Red Bull used at the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix. Alpine also decided to change up their livery – at least it actually has more paint on it this year!

The event featured a range of entertainment, including MGK, Kane Brown, and Brian Tyler – with Take That headlining. With this type of event, it would be impossible to please all fans. I personally liked the entertainment, and it was great to see Brian Tyler preform live – although it was perhaps a missed opportunity not getting him to perform the F1 theme – seeing as he created it. As for the host – Jack Whitehall, he did an excellent job, poking fun at the likes of Christian Horner, Charles Leclerc and George Russell!

Overall, I believe F1 75 LIVE was certainly a success for Formula 1. And, for me, it was absolutely amazing to get the opportunity to watch it all from right at the front of the stage. With that being said, of course there are ways it could be improved if a similar event were to take place again. For example, it would have been nice for the drivers to speak on stage for slightly longer, as their interviews seemed a little rushed. Nevertheless, seeing all the drivers on-stage together at the end, alongside their cars was a real highlight of the evening.

Who knows whether a similar event will ever take place again. But what we do know is that F1 75 LIVE set the scene perfectly for what is likely to be one of the biggest years in the sport’s illustrious history.
